I'm Dreaming of a Budgeted Christmas

I alway over-buy for Christmas.  If I get all my shopping done early, I find many deals that are too good to pass up.  This year is different, but different is good.  I didn't really go Christmas shopping except to buy a few really cheap DVDs on Black Friday.  I just looked around the house and wrote down all the things I have picked up all year long and I had at least 9 gifts for each of the girls, one for Alex and zero for Phil.  Phil decided he really should have some really ridiculously expensive software to keep improving his job skills.  Part of it includes the latest version of Photoshop, so I didn't balk too much.
My husband asked only for books and war movies for Christmas.  Easy to shop for, but really boring to open on Christmas morning.
Alex says he doesn't need anything and for me to spend the money on the girls.  Now, let me think this through.  Alex is a college student, living on his own with a part time job, and on the other hand, the girls are very, very spoiled with a closet full of clothes that they only wear half of.  They are tweens so they are too big for toys.  M informed us that she only wants one of three things for Christmas , the least expensive of which will cost at least $100.  Am I a Scrooge?
I on the other hand asked for a card table.  My request was met with "a card table isn't a very good Christmas gift" response.  Okay then, please buy me something I won't use, don't want or didn't ask for, just so long as it makes a good presentation.
Since Phil has been unemployed for the last 8 months, I am trying to keep things reasonable (for the first time in a longgggg time).  Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to spend hundreds of dollars each on Christmas, in fact, I don't actually kept tabs on my spending.  I go more by the number and size of the gifts to judge how much to buy.  Since C's birthday is just a little more than a month after Christmas, I usually just save her extra Christmas gifts for her birthday.
I didn't pay anywhere near $100 for any gift this year, so should I ignore M's only requested items based upon that method?  I think so, but I'm not sure Phil does.
